Profile
Q: How do I make changes on my profile?
A: You can make changes on your profile by clicking "Edit my Profile" link on your home page.

Q: What do I do if I forgot my password?
A:

If you forgot your password, click on the "Forgot your Password?" link on the Yonja Log In page. On the Forgot Password page, type in the email address you used to register with Yonja and click "Continue". Yonja will send the requested information to that email account.

Q: How do I change my profile name?
A: To change the name that appears on your profile, do the following:

1) Log onto www.yonja.com with your email address and password
2) Click on "Edit my profile" link on your homepage
3) Change your first name, as desired, and be sure to select "Save" at the bottom
    of the page.

Q:

How do I change my password?

A:

Click on "Edit my profile" link on your Home Page. Then click on "Change Password". Enter old and new password and click "Save". While creating a new password please do not use any non-English characters, such as "ç, ı, ğ, ö, ş, ü".

Q: How do I change my email address?
A: To change the email address of your Yonja account click on "Edit my profile" on your home page. In Email section, simply delete the address that is currently in the box, type in your new email address and then click on "Save".

Q: I do not want to receive emails from Yonja. How can I stop Yonja sending me messages for my account activity?
A: Click on "Edit my profile" on your home Page. At the bottom of the page, select the checkbox next to "I do not wish to receive email messages about my Yonja account activity. (i.e. new messages, friend requests, testimonials, etc.)".Then click "Save".

Q: How do I verify my email address?
A: After you log in, you will be prompted to verify your email address. To do so, click on the link on "Please click here to verify your email address." And then enter the verification code that was sent to your email address. If you did not receive a verification code, click on "If you do not know your verification code, please click here to resend it." to have a new verification code sent to you.

Please remember sometimes messages sent from the Yonja system might end up in the "Bulk Mail" or "Junk Mail" folders of Yahoo, Hotmail and other similar messaging applications. If you do not receive an email from Yonja in the next few minutes, be sure to check your "Bulk Mail" folder. After you entered the code please simply click on "Continue".

Q: Every time I log on to Yonja I get a message that I need to verify my account. I request a new verification code, but one never seems to arrive.
A: First, check to see that you entered a valid email address. If you entered an invalid address, or merely entered a typo by accident, you will not be able to recieve a verification code. Our system will also detect the bounced email and keep asking you to verify a valid account. By entering a valid and correct email address you will be able to receive your verification code and end this process.

Also, if you are using web based mail, especially Hotmail, check to see if the verification message is being sent directly to your Bulk or Junk mail folders.

Please note, sometimes due to heavy usage, it may take several hours for the "verification code" to arrive.

Q: I can't log in to my Yonja account. What can I do?
A: If you cannot remember your password, use the [Forgot your Password?] link on the log in page. This will cause your password to be sent to the email address you registered with at Yonja. If you use Hotmail or another web based email client be sure to check your "bulk" or "junk" mail folders if you do not see the password message come to your account. For security reasons, Customer Support can not send you your password (customer support does not have access to passwords), so you will need to use the link on the log in page to retrieve it.

If you have forgotten your password AND you no longer have access to the email address you registered with, you will most likely need to create a new account. Customer Support is not allowed to change email addresses on someone's account. This is why it is important to make sure you update your address on Yonja if it changes, and why it is important to use a valid email address when you register. If you do remember your password, you can always log in with your old address and password and then change your email address to the one you use currently.

If you are seeing a message that you still need to "verify" your email account, it means that you either have not done so, or that Yonja has detected that the address you used is not valid. You can go to Account Settings go enter a valid email address. If your email address is valid but you do not seem to be getting the validation code email, check your "bulk" or "junk" mail folders, especially if you are using Hotmail

Q: How do I cancel my account?
A: Click on "Edit my profile" on your home page. Then click on "Cancel Account" link.

Q: How and where can I add formatting to my Yonja pages?
A: You can add formatting to your blogs, testimonials, messages, listing and news categories, and "about me" and "what you are looking for" fields in your profile page in the following way:

Q: What is Yonja Token Account?
A: Yonja Token Account allows you to benefit from Yonja Token features and you get charged as you use those features. With your Yonja Tokens, you can customize your profile with images and colors and send more messages. More Yonja Token features will be available soon.

If you want to purchase tokens, click on “Account Status” under “My Profile” on your homepage. Click on “Click here to purchase tokens.” select the Token package and complete the transaction. To view your Yonja Token Account transactions, click on “Account Status” under “My Profile” on your homepage.

Q: What is a customized profile? How can I customize my profile?
A: Customized profile allows you to change the looks of your profile when other members are viewing it. You can change the colors to suite your style and even place a background image on your profile page.

In order for you to customize your profile, you need to have a Yonja Token Account. There is a charge for owning a customized profile. Every month, 100 Tokens will be deducted from Yonja Token account.

If you want to purchase tokens, click on “Account Status” under “My Profile” on your homepage. Click on “Click here to purchase tokens.” select the Token package and complete the transaction. To view your Yonja Token Account transactions, click on “Account Status” under “My Profile” on your homepage.

After you completed the transaction, go back to your homepage and click on “Customize” under “My Profile”. Edit Outer Border Color, Inner Border Color, Content Color, and Inner Content Color. You can find the color codes on Chart1 and Chart2 under “Tips” at the bottom of the page.

For background images enter the full URL including the "http://" part. Make sure to set the colors to "transparent" where you want the background to be visible. Example URL: "http://icons.yonja.com/images/logo.gif"

If you want a background image, you can set a content color and set the semi-transparent flag. This will make the text on your profile more readable.

You can play your music when other members visit your profile. See http://www.partnersinrhyme.com/midi/ or other sites for royalty free music.

After you save changes, click on “View my profile” under “My profile”. Here, you can see the looks of your profile as other Yonja members see it.

Photos

Q: How do I upload a photo?
A: From your home page, click on "Edit Picture" at the bottom of the photo box. Click on "Choose File" to search for a photo on your computer. Double click on the photo from your computer and the file address will automatically appear in the upload box. Click on "Upload".

You may only upload photos that are in JPG, GIF, or PNG file format, with a maximum size of 1000KB. You can upload 5 photos per profile in standard membership. If you are a "Gold Member" you can upload 20 photos.

Your photo should appear on your profile page after the page has reloaded.

Q: What types of photos/pictures can I to upload to my profile?
A: All photos/pictures, which are not match with the following guidelines, are subject to review and removal

1) The purpose of your picture on Yonja is to identify yourself to others in your
    online Yonja network and community.
2) Please upload a picture that is representative of you and please do not add
    pictures of people other than yourself.
3) We will not allow pictures containing copyrighted materials, nudity, children,
    animals, cartoons or celebrities.
4) Please do not add pictures that contain phone numbers, names, email
    addresses, web sites, or other contact information
5) Please do not upload offensive pictures.
6) Yonja reserves the right to remove pictures that do not comply with the above
    guidelines.

Q: I pressed upload and nothing happened, what went wrong?
A: - Try uploading a smaller picture. We only allow pictures up to 1000 KB.
- Make sure that you selected the correct location of your picture to upload from.
- Try using a different browser. Sometimes pictures' uploads work better on
  different browsers.
- Please try again, if you have a problem email us and we will try to work with you.

Q: How many photos can I have on my page?
A: "Standard Members" may have 5 photos on their profiles whereas "Gold Members" may have 20 photos.

Q: How do I make a photo the one to show up on my homepage?
A: Go to "Edit my profile" in your home page and click on the "Edit Picture" button under your picture box. Find the picture you want to show up on your profile, and press the "Set as Primary picture" link.

Q: How do I remove one of my photos?
A:

From your home page, click on "Edit Picture" button under your picture box. Find the picture you want to remove and click on "Delete" link to remove the photo from your account.

Friends

Q: How do I add friends and grow my friends network?
A: There are many ways to add friends, here are the basic ways:

First, you can invite people you know to join Yonja through "Invite". If they accept your invitation they will be added to your network of friends.

You can also use "Search Friends" to look up existing Yonja members by first and last name or email address information. If you find the person you are looking for by clicking on their photos you can reach at their profile pages and you may click on "Add as a friend" link. You will be asked to type in their last name or email again for verification purposes. Press "Continue" when you are done. They will be added if they accept your friend request.

Lastly by clicking on the "Add as a friend" link, while viewing profiles, you can follow the above guidelines.

If you don't know the last name or the email of the person that you desire to add to your list, you can send them messages to introduce yourself and try to make friends before you send them the request.

Here is a quick tip for you: If you want to make many new friends at Yonja, you should first increase the size of your network by inviting your existing friends.

Q: How do I approve a friend request to become a friend?
A: You will be notified of any requests to be added as friend to someone else's personal network through the Notices section of your home page. You can confirm or reject the request by clicking on "Accept" or "Reject" on the request confirmation page.

Q: How do I delete a friend?
A: Click on "See all my friends" on your Home Page. Then on your "Friends" page, click on "Delete" under the picture of your Friend.

Q: How many friends can I have?
A: You can have as many friends as you want.

Messages

Q: How do I send a message to someone?
A: In order to send a message to someone. You can go to her/his profile and press "Send Message."

Q: I can't read my messages or I can't send messages. Why?
A:

If you are seeing a message that you need to verify your email account to access messaging, it means that you either have not done so, or Yonja has detected that the address you used is not valid. You can use the link at the bottom of that window that says "Click here to verify your email address". And then enter the verification code that was sent to your email address. If you did not receive a verification code, click on "If you do not know your verification code, please click here to resend it". to have a new verification code sent to you.

Please note, sometimes due to heavy usage, it may take several hours for the "verification code" to arrive.

Q: I keep sending someone a message but they do not seem to get it or reply to me.
A: It is possible that the user has blocked you from sending them messages.

If someone chooses to block your messages, she/he will no longer see them or any indication you sent her/him. To protect their privacy, you will not be notified that you have been put in this status with them.

Q: How do I block people from sending me messages?
A: If you receive a message from someone and want to block him or her from sending you a message in the future, you can do this with our "Block User" feature.

You can block anyone from sending messages by clicking the button labeled "Block User" on their profile page. By selecting this option, the person is added to your Blocked Users page. You can view this page by clicking on Blocked Users on your Home Page. People on this page will be unable to send you a message. Any messages they do send you will be ignored and not passed on to you.

Keep in mind that to keep your privacy, the person that is blocked will not be notified of this status. The messages they send you will simply not be delivered to you. If you DO want to receive their messages again, you can delete them from your Blocked User page.

Q: How do I keep track of sent messages?
A: When you send a message make sure you check the box next to "Save Message in Sent Folder".

Q: How long may I keep track of my messages in my "Message Center"?
A: You can keep track of your messages for 30 days. After 30 days they are subject to deletion.

Q: How many messages may I store in my message center?
A: If you are a "Gold Member", you can store 150 messages in your inbox and 50 messages in your sent folder. If you are a "Standard Member" you can store 80 messages in your inbox and 20 messages in your sent folder.

Q: What happens to the messages of a friend if she/he cancels her/him account or if she/he is removed from Yonja?
A: All messages from or to members that cancel Yonja accounts or were removed from Yonja are deleted.

Q: How many messages may I send per day at most?
A: If you are a "Gold Member", you can send unlimited messages. If you are a "Standard Member" you can send up to 100 messages.

Q: It's after 12 AM in Turkey but I cannot send any new messages. Why am I still subject to 100 message per day rule? It is a new day now.
A:

Our system-reset time is not 12:00 AM. It is 6:00 o'clock in the morning in Turkey's time.

Testimonials

Q: What are Testimonials?
A: Testimonials are Notes, Remarks, Stories, Toasts, Roasts, etc. that your friends say about you. You may approve them if you want them to appear on your homepage. Remember you cannot edit the entries, you have to accept all or it or none of it.

Warning: If you write a testimonial to your friend and if this friend approves it then all the rights on the testimonial belong to this friend. That means if you want to delete that testimonial later on you cannot delete that testimonial. Only your friend can delete it.

Q: How do I approve a testimonial?
A: You will be notified in the Notices section of your home page of any requests to approve a testimonial left for you by a friend. You can approve or reject the testimonial by clicking on the "Approve" or "Reject" link next to the comment on your Testimonials page.

Q: If I approve an entry, can I change my mind later?
A: Yes. Go to "My Testimonials" from your home page under the "Message Center". There is a Delete Entry link at the right hand side of each testimonial.

Q: How do I add a testimonial?
A: You can add a testimonial to a friend's profile. From the friend's profile page, click on "Add a Testimonial". If your friend approves, your comment will appear on the friend's profile page.

Q: What can I write about when I sign a friend's Testimonial?
A: You can tell a funny story or describe something they great they did. You can let others know what your friend is really like!

Q: Why would I want friends to make a testimonial?
A: Who knows you better than your friends? By having them sign your Testimonials, you let other people give their perspective of you.

Blog

Q: What is Yonja Blog?
A:

A blog (short for web log) is a place to publish whatever you like to the web in a simple and efficient fashion. It can be your running thoughts on life, a journal of your experiences, a running commentary on any subject, a place to offer information to others, a family newsletter, or whatever else you want it to be.

Q: What sort of content is NOT allowed to be posted in my Yonja Blog?
A: While you can do an awful lot with your Yonja Blog, the content is subject to the Terms of Service of Yonja. Yonja reserves the right to remove content or the blog as a whole, or even cancel the associated Yonja account, if the blog violates those terms of service.

Q: How do I add, edit or delete a blog?
A: When you log in to Yonja, on the left hand side of your home page, under your message center you will see the Yonja Blog panel. By clicking on “Add a Blog” you will open the “Add a Blog” page. Title is required. When you finish your posting click on “Save”. If you don’t want to save that posting and want to leave the page just click on “Cancel”. In both cases, you will go to your blogs page. To create another blog, click on the link on “here”. If you want to edit an entered blog just click on the “Edit” button under that blog, you want to edit. If you want to delete an entered blog just click on the “Delete” button under that blog, you want to delete.

Q: How do I view my blogs?
A: If you want to see your blogs just click on “My Blogs” on your homepage under Yonja Blog panel. Or, on the right hand side of your homepage, under “My Profile”, click on “View My Profile”. Scroll down the page and under your testimonials you will see your blogs. Next to “View all” you will see a number in parentheses in red. This number indicates the number of blogs you currently have on your homepage.

Q: I posted a blog a few minutes ago but it’s not on my page yet, why?
A: Remember that it may take time for the system to activate your blog entry.

Miscellaneous

Q: Is Yonja available only in English?
A: No. Yonja is available both in English and in Turkish. At the bottom of the log in page or your home page you can select the language option that you are more comfortable with.

Q: What is "Report for Review"?
A: If you find someone too offensive or when you are surfing on user profiles if you identify any profiles with photos that are contrary with our picture policy you can report them to us by clicking on "Report for Review".

Q: I see a Gold Star icon in some profile photos. I don't see it in mine, why ?
A:

Accessing this feature requires a Gold membership.

After you log in, click on "Edit my profile" on your home page. At the bottom of the page, select the checkbox next to "I wish to display a Gold Star next to my Profile Picture on Yonja. (Please note, only Gold Members can display a Gold Star next to their pictures on Yonja)". Then click "Save".

Q: What types of searches are there?
A: We have different search options depending on your needs and membership status.

"Search" allows you to search people by their 'Gender', 'Status', 'Interested in' and 'Age Range' simultaneously.

"Search Friends" allows you to search your friends on Yonja by their 'Email addresses' or 'First and Last names'.

"Search Interests" allows you search for a 'Specific Interest'.

"Advanced Search" allows "Gold Members" to search people by their 'Gender', 'Status', 'Interested in', 'Age range', 'City', 'School', 'Company', 'Favorite Team', 'Interest', 'Occupation' simultaneously.

Q: How many different membership options are there at Yonja?
A: There are two different membership options at Yonja. You can either be a "Standard Member" or a "Gold Member".

Q: What are the advantageous of being a "Gold Member"?
A:

- Ability to send unlimited messages per day
- Improved & Advanced Search Results you can find more people (search
  by 'Location', 'Occupation', 'School', 'Company', 'Teams', and 'Interests')
- Ability to send and receive "Winks" from other members
- Ability to create a "Secret CrushList"
- Ability to see which members are Online Now!
- Ability to post 20 photos instead of 5
- Dedicated technical support with a 48-hour response time
- Ability to store more messages in your folders
- Ability to become a Yonja Featured (or VIP) Member. As a Yonja Featured (or VIP)
  Member, you can get the attention of people you select by being featured on
  their Yonja Page.

Q: Why should I use "Wink"?
A: Accessing "MyWinks" requires a Gold membership.

It's a wonderful way to let other members know you'd like to know more, and for a while, it's designed as a way to flirt. If you don't know what to write to that cool person you just saw online, you can now just send a Wink. Remember, sometimes, a wink is worth a thousand words…

Q: Why should I create a "CrushList"?
A: Accessing "CrushList" requires a Gold membership.

Yonja allows you to create your own Secret CrushList. Feel free to mark up to 10 people that you secretly like or have a crush on. If they also mark you, then Yonja will notify you! When two people secretly like each other, Yonja will send both of them an email, and a will appear next to their picture to let them know that they both like each other. Good crushes! You can mark people who you have a crush on! They won't know that they are actually on your CrushList unless they mark you as well. Yonja will automatically notify both of you if you both marked on each other!
